Welcome to Lane's House Of Old Fashion Large German Shepherd Dogs. I do not breed for the Conformation show ring or the German Schutzhund ring. I breed Old Fashion Large German Shepherds for family companions.Our dogs are big. Dogs exceeding 30" at the withers, and well over 100 pounds in weight. They are "straight backed", in reference to the excessive slope of some American show dogs and the roaching of some German show dogs.They are called Old Fashioned Large German Shepherds. If you want to see true happiness just look at the face of an 8-year-old when they hold their new German Shepherd puppy in their arms for the first time. The sex of the dog does not matter. Dogs can help teach a child responsibility, patience, empathy, and compassion, but remember, no young child is capable of properly training or completely caring for a dog, so the parent must always ultimately take full responsibility for the pet. Sound in mind and body. All German Shepherd Dogs are working dogs if you ask them to do a job and show them what you want them to do they will do it, and do it well. All my dogs are family pets. I like calm but energetic dogs with no hind end slope, straight top lines (backs), tight round feet, with large heads, heavy bones, and tall frames very good in obedience. Yes my dogs are often large, but size should never be a factor over soundness. OFA certified hips are of great importance. The new style German Shepherd is dying much sooner then Shepherds from just 20 years ago. I am committed to keeping lines that average 12 to 14 years of longevity.
